A years-old listeria outbreak in Denmark, which has made nine people sick since 2016, and also killed two this year, has been traced back to Estonian processor M.V. Wool, Nikolas Kühn Hove, head of crises management at the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration confirmed to IntraFish in March.

The source of the outbreak was determined through tracing performed by the Statens Serum Institut, the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration and the DTU Food Institute.

The cold-smoked fish products -- which include smoked trout -- have since been recalled from two Danish retailers: Salling Group and Dagrofa.
