Fair Trade USA launched a campaign Thursday to mark World Oceans Day and to raise awareness of issues in the seafood industry. The digital campaign runs through June 8  and aims to encourage consumers to seek seafood sourced in a socially and environmentally responsible manner.

“Fishermen’s wellbeing is critical to addressing environmental concerns in the seafood industry,” says Fair Trade USA Seafood Director Julie Kuchepatov.

Last month, US food retailer Albertsons expanded its Fair Trade Certified seafood program by becoming the first major grocer to carry Fair Trade-certified scallops.
