In retaliation for the Trump administration's decision Friday to hike import tariffs on millions of dollars worth of Chinese exports to the US market, China said Monday it is imposing higher tariffs on a range of US goods.

Ignoring warnings from President Trump not to retaliate, China’s finance ministry said it plans to set import tariffs ranging from 5 percent to 25 percent on 5,140 US products on a target list worth about $60 billion. It said the tariffs will take effect on June 1, according to Reuters.
