China lifted an import ban on salmon coming from Norway’s northern regions Sor-Trondelag, Troms, and Nordland, which have a total production of 500,000 metric tons of salmon a year, reports Global Times.

China lifted a ban on Norwegian seafood in November last year, but maintained a ban on imports from these regions over fears of disease.

Sigmund Bjorgo, director of the Norwegian Seafood Council (NSC) mainland China and Hong Kong, said the lifting of the ban is "big news" for Norway.
