The European Parliament ratified the Canada and Europe Trade Agreement (CETA) earlier this year and it went into effect Sept. 21.

The seafood sector in Canada is expected to be one of the winners from the trade deal, along with various manufacturing sectors.

Last year, Canadian fish and seafood exports reached CAD 555 million ($443.6 million/€378 million). Currently, Canada has 1.8 percent of the EU market share in terms of top fish and seafood suppliers.
