Spanish canning giant Calvo has detailed nearly a dozen and a half key sustainability measures that it wants to be in force by 2025, including making all of its brands "sustainable."

Under the plans, 100 percent of the tuna used by the Calvo Group brands will be harvested from responsible and sustainable fisheries.

By 2025 tuna catches must comply with the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) standard or Responsible Tuna Fishing (RTF) programs, be included in a robust fisheries improvement project (FIP), that comes from artisanal and pole-and-line fisheries, or caught without the use of fish aggregating devices (FADs)

All of the fishing products will be traceable in origin, with measures in place to identify species, fishing gear used, as well as when, where and who caught it, in which port it was landed and in which Calvo plant is was processed.
