The Brazilian government is conducting public consultations to explore how shrimp and lobster should be defined and how their quality is measured.

Fresh shrimp, cold shrimp, frozen shrimp, defrosted, partially cooked and cooked shrimp, in addition to fresh and frozen lobster will all come under scrutiny during and after the 90-day consulation process.

Standards, including for labeling, will be developed in coordination with the Department of Inspection of Products of Animal Origin (Dipoa).

Brazil's agriculture ministry (MAPA) launched the process, which runs until late March, several weeks ago.
