Customers are finally getting their hands on some Copper River salmon, but with prices at record highs for both king and sockeye, only the wealthiest and most dedicated fans are taking it home.

High prices haven't stopped shoppers at Seattle's famous Pike Place Fish Market, where customers are shelling out nearly $160 (€137) per fish for Copper River sockeye, Ryan Rector, the market's veteran fishmonger, told IntraFish on Friday.

Rector, who said this is his 14th year working at the market for Copper River season, said the fish have been scarce and despite the price, customers have been eager to take home as much as they can.
