The focus on pushing “on-trend” antibiotic-free farmed salmon into the US market has opened new doors for Chilean salmon farmer Nova Austral.

The Chilean producer has been steadily gaining market share in the United States since introducing its Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC)-certified Sixty South salmon products 19 months ago, which are differentiated as premium and antibiotic free.

The US market accounts for over 30 percent of Sixty South’s sales, mainly in the form of fresh products, Alex Malaguti, Nova Austral’s director of sales and US business development, told IntraFish.
