Thai Union's collaboration with Alibaba supply chain subsidiary Win-Chain will extend the company's already impressive brand building in the Chinese market, according to an exec involved with the deal.

"It is hard to build a retail brand in China, but Thai Union has done just that," John Liu, key account senior manager at Alibaba supply chain management company Win-Chain told IntraFish.

The company's retail products are already listed on most of Win-Chain's channels, with its signature "straight" Ecuadorian shrimp, both cooked and raw and its toothfish selling well on Alibaba platform Tmall and in Hema, the company's supermarket.
