Aldi Ireland is being forced to stop an own brand smoked salmon promotion after it wrongly claimed it was manufactured from wild Irish salmon in a widely distributed printed brochure mailed to consumers in the run-up to Christmas.

It went on to say that "[w]ithin 48 hours of being caught," each fish is prepared for smoking.
