The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has authorized a record Alaska pollock purchasing program that officials say will offset harm done by the US-China trade war.

The agency has been approved to make another record purchase of up to $41 million (€36.8 million) of surplus Alaska pollock, according to Alaska lawmakers.

Genuine Alaska Pollock Producers (GAPP) CEO Craig Morris said in a statement to IntraFish that the purchase shows a commitment to US fishermen.
