The US Department of Labor is reported to be investigating Maryland-based Sea Watch International, a leading harvester and processor of clam products, for potential labor violations at its plant in New Bedford, Massachusetts.

In 2020, a group of employees with the staffing agency Workforce Unlimited filed a class action lawsuit against Workforce Unlimited and Sea Watch, according to PBS. The suit alleges that, for years, the staffing firm charged them excessive fees for rides to and from work at Sea Watch, pushing their hourly pay below minimum wage, in violation of state law.
