Seattle-based Trident Seafoods is suing a dietary supplement brand company over trademark infringement related to its dietary supplements.

The company said in a complaint filed Friday with a US District Court in Western Washington it was suing the Nevada company over "trademark infringement, false designation of origin, and unfair competition."

Trident Seafoods said it has used the name "Trident" since 1973, "and has spent considerable amounts promoting and protecting its brand," which not only includes seafood products but dietary supplements for both humans and animals.
