The Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries imposed an NOK 799,000 (€79,000/$94,000) penalty against Norway's seventh largest salmon producer, Nordlaks, for not holding a facility certificate for three of its locations during a short period in 2019.

Vesteralen, Norway-based Nordlaks failed to renew existing certificates for its Bullatholmen, Sandnes O and Grottoy sites between October and November.

All "floating" aquaculture operations must carry site certificates, which are valid for a five-year period.
