Massachusetts-based Northern Pelagic Group (NORPEL) has agreed to pay a $220,000 (€184,767) fine to settle US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) claims that the company violated chemical accident prevention rules under the federal Clean Air Act and hazardous chemical reporting requirements at its New Bedford seafood processing facility.

Authorities alleged that the company, which maintains significant quantities of ammonia at its New Bedford facility, failed to file a Risk Management Plan with authorities.
