Chilean agri-food giant Agrosuper will not be able to delay a trial in a lawsuit alleging that subsidiary AquaChile breached its contract and marred a potential sale of California-based smoked salmon producer Santa Barbara Smokehouse to French smoked salmon giant Labeyrie by refusing to supply it fish.

On Oct. 14, a US Central District of California judge denied AquaChile's request to move a jury trial for the case, scheduled for February 2022, to June 2022. Santa Barbara filed the complaint against Agrosuper in December of 2019.
