Land-based salmon farmer Fredrikstad Seafoods has won a judgement against a Danish equipment supplier in a dispute over faulty construction at the company's recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) operation in Oya, Norway.

A Norwegian appellate court ruled Friday that the supplier, Grakjaer, bore responsibility for a construction failure at Fredrikstad's land-based salmon farming project in Ora, near Fredrikstad, and ordered the contractor to pay NOK 60.9 million ($6.9 million/€6.1 million) in damages.

Fredrikstad, which later completed the facility with a different contractor, initially engaged Grakjaer to provide a turnkey solution for the project.
