One month after declaring bankruptcy, 137-year-old Danish seafood supplier Jacob Kongsbak Lassen was taken over by Danish gourmet foods importer Kalu and seafood producer Skagerak Fiskeeksport.

Jacob Kongsbak Lassen announced it could no longer pay its creditors in March. Kalu saw an opportunity since the company didn't have any seafood in its product offerings.

"For us, it makes sense to help secure Kongsbak's future operations, as we believe it is an important supplier in our industry of high-quality products for the restaurant and food industry," Kalu Director Thomas Hoy said.
