A committee of unsecured creditors is looking to investigate the business dealings of the owner of Mariner Seafood LLC, who filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in early September, leaving millions owed to key seafood suppliers across several countries.

Lawyers for the creditors which include Stavis Seafoods, Seafreeze and Seatrade, said in a court filing that they are planning to investigate Mariner Seafood founder and CEO Jack Flynn's realty company, which owns a 32,000-square-foot property at 14 South Street in New Bedford, Massachusetts, where Mariner Seafood operates.
