Chilean salmon producer Blumar is being sued for more than CLP 427 million (€461,000/$496,000) by 61 Los Rios Region fishermen due to the damage allegedly resulting from the spill of 300 liters of fish oil from Blumar's facility to Corral Bay last year, biobiochile reported.

The legal action was filed in the Court of Appeals of Valdivia this week. The lawsuit requires compensation of CLP 7 million (€7,500/$8,000) for each fisherman, bringing the total to CLP 427 million (€461,000/$496,000) for the alleged damage of business activity, environment and the community.

The Valdivia Court of Appeals appointed Minister Juan Ignacio Correa to hear the case and its resolution.
