A Canada federal court has denied salmon farmer Cermaq the ability to transfer 1.5 million fish as part of its Discovery Islands operations in British Columbia.
The company had planned to transport fish from its Cecil Island fish farm to farms at Brent Island and Venture Point, where they would mature for 18 to 22 months prior to being harvested. It told the court it would have to cull the fish if not granted the transfer with "no other facility to which they can feasibly be transferred."
