An Alaska judge has sided with American Seafoods' shipping affiliates over the US government's request to pile on fines for use of the disputed Bayside Canadian Railway (BCR) shipping route in addition to the more than $400 million (€345 million) in penalties already issued.

Alaska Federal Judge Sharon Gleason filed an order Thursday prohibiting US Customs from "issuing and enforcing additional penalty notices for shipments via the BCR Route prior to September 30, 2021, and from enforcing the notices of penalty that have already been issued," while the case remains in litigation.
