Kloosterboer International Forwarding (KIF) and Alaska Reefer Management (ARM) on Thursday filed a motion for a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction in US District Court in Anchorage to stop a US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) enforcement action that threatens the ability to supply Alaska seafood to US customers and consumers.

ARM, along with its wholly-owned subsidiary KIF, arranges transportation and related logistics services for seafood companies operating in Alaska fisheries.

The companies in a joint press release on Thursday evening said that without warning or explanation, "CBP recently issued Notices of Penalty to companies that harvest, process, store and transport Alaska seafood products to the Eastern US via the port of Bayside, New Brunswick, alleging violations of the Jones Act.
