Cargill's first investment in a land-based salmon producer is a landmark moment for the US agri-giant.

On October 12, the US feed giant announced a $5 million (€4.3 million) investment in land-based salmon farmer Salmon Evolution via a private placement of new shares. It also agreed to supply 100 percent of Salmon Evolution's feed for its Indre Haroy, Norway facility.

The investment was made in cash, and Cargill now owns just under 2 percent of Salmon Evolution.

“Cargill is happy with this level of investment," President of Cargill’s Aqua Nutrition, Helene Ziv-Douki told IntraFish.
