The world's largest producer of premium king salmon, New Zealand King Salmon was forced to shift and adapt at light speed in 2020 in an attempt to mitigate impacts and re-strategize around a 50 percent fall in sales in the fourth quarter of its financial year.

“This has been one of the most challenging periods I have experienced in my business career,” said John Ryder, chairman of New Zealand King Salmon in August.

But with new products, a rebalancing of retail and foodservice, and a greater geographic spread, the company has proved resilient and is now looking towards the future and a focus on further diversification and operations better built to fight the effects of climate change.
