2020 presented a raft of challenges to Chilean salmon export group New World Currents.

A joint venture between Chilean salmon producers Blumar, Granja Marina Tornagaleones and Cultivos Yadran with the sole aim of selling into China, the coronavirus pandemic upended trade, logistics and even saw the Chinese market implying a connection between the spread of the virus and imported salmon.

CEO Nicolas Terrazas reflects on the year and looks ahead to 2021.

What was the most important change your business made in 2020?

We moved our headquarters to Shanghai, bringing us closer to decision makers, main processing plants, and distribution channels.
