The Alaska Department of Fish & Game (ADFG) on Monday projected a sharp tumble in the catch of Copper River sockeye, one of the world's most valuable wild salmon.

The state fisheries regulators forecast a total harvest of Copper River sockeye of 844,000 fish, down 13 percent from the 2020 overall projection.

The overall run of Copper River sockeye is projected to be 1.29 million fish, down sharply from the 10-year average of 2.1 million fish.

Though harvest projections were not released for Prince William Sound (PWS) pink salmon in the latest forecast, the total run is projected to be 19.1
