FISHING grounds off the coast of Wales could be divided equally between England, Ireland and the Isle of Man under new laws being proposed by the Welsh Assembly government, writes Geoff Abbott.

A consultation paper published by the Welsh Assembly outlines plans to take over the administration and responsibility for their fisheries by 2010, or sooner.

The move in Wales follows on from an announcement by Scottish cabinet secretary

The first phase of the Welsh proposal has already been carried out, in April this year, when the Defra Marine & Fisheries Agency in Wales was transferred into the Assembly government.
