The United States and the United Kingdom are at odds over toothfish fishing near Antarctica, reports The Guardian.
Last year, Russia rejected catch limits for Patagonia toothfish – also known as Chilean seabass – set by the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR), a 26-member fishing regulatory body.
This spring, the UK responded by issuing licenses to four British-flagged vessels to fish for the species off the coast of South Georgia, a remote uninhabited island controlled by the UK, in a move the United States says breaches international rules.
