Scallops continue to be in high demand at high prices ahead of the opening of the 2019 fishing season on April 1.

Although scallop prices have been trending higher for around a year, that hasn't slowed consumer demand, according to Chuck Violissi, senior vice president of sales and seafood procurement at New Bedford, Massachusetts-based OceansFleet Fisheries.

"Demand is extremely high. Everything that's being landed is being sold right now," he told IntraFish, noting that although supply has been steady, landings have been low as the current season comes to a close.
