Alaska pollock and hake fishing company Phoenix Processor Limited Partnership has received an accredited third-party certification for ethical labor practices from the FISH Standard for two of its vessels.
The company's mothership fishing vessels M/V Excellence and the M/V Phoenix received the certifications, the company announced Tuesday.
The FISH Standard was developed to assure seafood buyers that the fish they are buying and selling is harvested by crews that are recruited and hired ethically, treated with respect on a vessel, paid properly and that have processes to address grievances.
