President Trump placed the expansion of America's seafood exports atop a list a ocean priorities for his administration.

In a presidential proclamation released Wednesday designating June as National Ocean Month, the president said boosting seafood exports will help reduce the country's $13 billion (€11.5 billion) seafood trade deficit.

"The fisheries resources of the United States are among the most valuable in the world. Growing global demand for seafood presents tremendous opportunities for expansion of our seafood exports, which can reduce our more than $13 billion seafood trade deficit," the proclamation said.
