IN AN increasingly hungry world, fisheries should be even more important. Yet, the green lobby continues to set agendas that are often misconceived and hardly transparent to oppose even the best managed fisheries.

There is a demand for fish and a shortage of protein across much of the world. Fishing has become more expensive, but every food production method has. Yet fishing has been largely unable to pass on these higher costs even though consumers may be paying more.

Supply chains will have to change.
