The fishing fleet in Argentina is landing an average 34.6 metric tons of illex squid a day, totaling 50,000 metric tons this season so far, reports Faro de Vigo.

There are 62 fishing vessels operating, of which 20 are related or belong to Spanish companies including Pescanova, Profand, Fandicosta, Iberconsa, or Albo’s owner Shanghai Kaichuang.

According to media reports, around 285 Asian vessels are fishing for illex beyond the 201 nautical mile of the Argentinean exclusive economic zone (EEZ).
