The Alaska pollock "B" season--which started around June 10 -- is humming along in terms of volume, but producers are still concerned about the size of the fish being caught.

"The average size is around 400 grams," an executive with an Alaska catcher-processor told IntraFish. "That's the case for everybody. We're hoping the larger fish will come in later."

Alaska pollock producers harvest around 45 percent of their pollock for the year during B season, and the rest during A season.
