Scottish sea fisheries and processing businesses received funds from both the European Union's European and Maritime Fisheries Fund as well as more contributions from the Scottish government, The National reported.

The EU's fund latest round of allocations brought in £4.2 million (€ 4.6 million/$5.1 million) to help the marine industry create more jobs. The Scottish government contributed with £1.4 million (€1.5 million/$1.7 million).

Some of the named companies receiving aid are Seafood Scotland to embark on key export markets and JK Thomson to construct a new processing facility.
