Members of a Scottish seafood association are warning that the upcoming exit of the United Kingdom from the European Union will cause disruptions at the English Channel, reported the Press and Journal.

According to Scottish Creel Fishermen Federation's Alistair Sinclair, there aren't enough environmental health officers and vets required to complete the paperwork for all businesses.

The 20 percent tariff that would be placed on mackerel would also make it difficult to compete with Scandinavian companies, said Scottish Seafood Association's Jimmy Buchan.

Other concerns that were cited include a lack of migrant workers, increased labeling requirements and certificates, and protests from French competitors.
