Icelandic fishing giant Samherji has named Hlynur Veigarsson deputy managing director of Ice Fresh Seafood, the company's sales operation, reported VB.

Veigarsson will handle the company's Icelandic operations, and takes this position in the absence of Gustaf Baldvinsson.*

Baldvinsson will be absent until April, according to the Icelandic publication. Upon his return, Veigarsson will take the position of deputy director alongside him.

Veigarsson has worked for Samherji since 1992 on the company's freezer trawlers, but he first began in the sales department in 2002. He later handled frozen seafood sales in the Asian market.

*Editor's Note: A previous version of this article incorrectly stated that Hlynur Veigarsson was named deputy managing director for Ice Fresh Seafood Limited in Grimsby, which is Samherji's UK seafood brand. Gustaf Baldvinsson remains the managing director at Ice Fresh-Seagold in the UK.
