Icelandic fishing and processing firm Samherji has commissioned the building of the Vilhelm Thorsteinsson EA, a new pelagic vessel at Karstensen Shipyard in Skagen, Denmark.

The vessel is expected to be delivered by mid-summer in 2020 and will be well-equipped in terms of fishing and the handling of catches, as well as the working facilities and crew equipment, the company said.

The capacity of the ship is around 3,000 metric tons of chilled products.

The new vessel will replace the existing Vilhelm Thorsteinsson EA 11.
