The Russian seafood industry has reduced its shipments of lower cost fish, including whole pollock and fillets, from the Far East to central Russia because of a twofold increase in the cost of transportation by refrigerated train.

According to Russian fishery agency Rosrybolovstvo, the cost of shipments in refrigerated trains rose from RUB 9 (€0.10/$0.12) per kilogram in January to RUB 16 (€0.18/$0.21) in August, with the cost of refrigerated container shipment showing twofold growth to RUB 20 (€0.23/$0.27). The cost of transportation by refrigerated truck also jumped significantly, rocketing 41.9
