Parts of the Western Bering Sea Pacific cod and halibut fishery were deemed sustainable in accordance with the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) standard on Oct. 8.
This means that the Western Bering Sea Pacific cod and halibut longline fishery is now certified for the next five years, if it passes annual surveillance audits.
The Longline Fishery Association (LFA), made up of six companies with 25 fishing vessels, are eligible to use the fishery certificate.
