Russia’s Longline Fishery Association (LFA) is seeking Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification for the West Bering Sea cod and halibut longline fisheries.

“Initially, one of the reasons for setting up LFA was the need to introduce international principles of sustainable fisheries in the fishing activities of companies," Vyacheslav Bychkov, president of the LFA, told IntraFish. “Thus, to achieve MSC certification for the Pacific cod and Pacific halibut longline fisheries in the West Bering Sea as a sustainable and well-managed fishery."
