Russia's federal fishery agency, Rosrybolovstvo, approved the recommendations of the country’s fishery researchers to increase the total allowable catches (TAC) for pollock fishing in 2020.

The pollock quota in the Western Bering Sea zone climbed 26.3 percent from the initial level to 390,000 metric tons, while in the Primorskiy Krai area the pollock TAC jumped 58.5 percent to 28,700 metric tons.

The new allocations should boost overall harvest by 5 percent, Alexey Buglak, president of Russia’s Pollock Catcher Association (PCA), told IntraFish.
