Royal Greenland took a not-so-usual turn in acquiring Canadian seafood processor Quinlan Brothers, which is why the sale went public on March 13.

"This time, we are doing it the other way round," Royal Greenland CEO Mikael Thinghuus told IntraFish.

"First, we are going for governmental approval for the transfer of licenses and once this is finalized we will go through the due diligence process."

The company decided on the strategy based on its previous acquisition of sister company Quin-Fisheries in 2016, which took two years to close.
