Spanish tuna ranching giant Ricardo Fuentes e Hijos and Malta's General Director of Fisheries, Adreina Fenech, are embroiled in a scandal that is being dubbed the largest illegal Atlantic tuna fishing operation in Spain, according to local media.

Leaked documents from an investigation by Spain's Civil Guard to El Confidential, suggest the Maltese fisheries minister took bribes from the fishing company to under report bluefin tuna catches from the Mediterranean.

Since the new broke, Fenech has been suspended from her position, reports Malta Today.
