THE FAMOUS Ashvale group of fish restaurants and fish and chip shops has built up an extensive base by relying on locally caught and filleted whitefish.

It now has eleven outlets in Aberdeen, Elgin, Inverurie, Ellon, Brechin and Dundee.

By being responsible for introducing numerous people, including children, to their first taste of 'fresh local fish', Ashvale outlets have played a key role in promoting and marketing Scottish caught whitefish.

Ashvale serves some 18,000 fish fillets to roughly 30,000 customers a week. This amounts to around 140 boxes of whitefish each week, including haddock, cod, plaice, lemon sole, skate and rock turbot.
