As an investigation into Samherji's role in the cash-for-quotas scandal begins, protesters in Iceland are calling for the immediate resignation of current Fisheries Minister Kristjan Thor Juliusson, a former board member at Samherji roughly 20 years ago.

While the case goes to trial in Namibia, and Namibian officials are stripped of their positions, the Icelandic government has just recently stated that communications between the district prosecutor and the Directorate of Tax Investigations have begun.

The investigation is still in its "early stages," a Samherji spokesperson told IntraFish.
