Knut Haagensen, a member of the family behind well-known Norwegian salted fish exporter Jangaard Brothers, has died, aged 51.

Haagensen lived in Ålesund, and was also heavily involved with the Norwegian Seafood Federation. In recent years, he traveled extensively to political meetings to talk about the industry's value creation potential, and criticized the industry for sending so much fish out of the country.

Haagensen died on Tuesday July 2 after a battle with cancer, leaving behind his wife Ann Helen, and the children Herman Julius, Ferdinand Amelius and Kikki Konstanse.
