Unprecedented sanctions imposed on Russia after the start of the country's military operation in Ukraine have shaken the fishing industry, and have left many fearful for the future of their businesses.

A number of Russian Far Eastern fishing companies faced the technical impossibility of obtaining money for fish products supplied abroad.

On Feb. 24, the day of Russia's invasion into Ukraine, "foreign companies paid more than $5 million (€4.4 million) for products, but we did not see the money in the account,” an executive from one fishing company told IntraFish.
